A little blog of backstabbing, lies, sex, friends, and the theatre.

Welcome to my little blog about backstabbers, lies, sex, friendship and the theatre. I highly recommend you check out the first blog post, titled Prologue, to get a feel for what my blog is about (other than the backstabbing, lies, sex, friends, and the theatre).

Prologue

I have just completed three books about year-long life improvement journeys (Eat, Pray, Love, The Happiness Project, and MWF Seeking BFF). Even though each book made some excellent points (and I did really love Eat, Pray, Love- I am, after all, a 30-year-old woman!), I am thoroughly sick of the genre.

The one things these books did convince me to do was start a blog. I read a lot of self-help books and blogs, and very few of them talk about the problem I have: What if because of your chosen profession, you are really disliked? I'm serious. I live in a medium-sized town where I grew up, and I have more frienemies and actual enemies than anyone I know! I consistently deal with backstabbers, lies, and gossip.

It is not completely the fault of my tactless personality that I find myself in this position (although I do plan to probe my more attractive qualities, such as being a know-it-all and gossiping way too much myself, as I blog). The biggest problem is that I became a theatre director. And not just that I became a director, but rather that I ended up in charge of the whole tiny community theatre. In a town that already has two community theatres. And two more have started up since then.

So I have several kind of enemies and people who dislike me. The obvious- actors who are pissed about casting decisions, several (though not all) of the people involved in other theatres who pretty much just hate my existence. But the weird ones are the people who I did nothing but give leads to, try to make friends with, and now they either act as a frienemy, or with outright hostility.

I plan on exploring some of the more confusing and hurtful of these relationships through this blog. Upfront, I am not writing a blog to get a book deal, although I wouldn't say no to a reality TV show to document all this drama. I just cast my next show today, so I'm sure I'll have fun topics for my next blog after all the fallout!
